a beautiful, warm and cosy cottage

"Stunning location where you can see the sun come up from the kitchen window and a million stars at night. This is a beautiful, warm and cosy cottage, and when there was a blizzard outside it felt even more cosy. The rooms are a fabulous size and our granddaughter loved her own bedroom and en suite upstairs. There was a plentiful supply of wood and coal for the open fire and lashings of hot water and fluffy towels in the bathrooms. There are plenty of places to visit nearby: Bowes museum, Barnard Castle, the animal rescue sanctuary and a host of lovely little gift shops. Just about perfect for a short winter break and the milk left in the fridge for us on arrival was very sweet and much appreciated. We will definitely come back here."

Absolutely beautiful place to stay

"We came here in snow and strong winds and were instantly surprised at how warm and cosy the cottage was. It was beautifully equipped with everything you could need and more besides. Spent one wonderful morning watching it snow through the kitchen window while we did one of the jigsaw puzzles. It's a long time since we have relaxed the old-fashioned way like that and it was brilliant. The wifi was good, so we were able to find information about places to visit, but in fairness the cottage was so nice - comfortable beds, lashings of hot water and fluffy towels, plenty of logs and coal for the fire, and so on, that we didn't venture out much. At night, when the clouds cleared, we could see a million stars. Absolutely beautiful place to stay."

a fabulous relaxing weekend

"We had a fabulous relaxing weekend. The views were lovely and peaceful. Amazing place to star gaze. The garden was brilliant for our dogs to chase around. We loved the cottage. It was lovely and warm, we had constant hot water. The beds were probably the comfiest that we have stayed in. The toiletries provided were a lovely touch. And surprising for self catering. We appreciated the chocolates and wine too. We walked from the cottage to Dalby and back. Was an 8 mile walk and muddy but we all enjoyed it. We would definitely recommend and we hope to return to the cottage."

"Roebuck is in a quiet, secluded position with a delightful outlook. There is an abundance of wildlife in the neighbourhood and pleasant walks from the doorstep. It is a 5 minute drive to basic supplies and takeaways, 10 minutes from a range of good produce outlets, restaurants and a selection of coastal walks. Being on the Black Isle sunshine hours are much higher than the national average. The accommodation has comfortable, spacious bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen and warm, bright living areas. Access is easy and parking at the property, making it a very relaxed retreat."

"My family has just returned from a glorious week staying in Tigh Beag on the Conaglen estate. We have had the most magical time! Our group consisted of four adults and four children. The house was perfect, very comfortable and well equipped. We ventured to Loch Ness, Anarch Mor mountain range as well as Fort William. The ferry crossing to and from the house proved very popular with the children! The housekeeper was most welcoming and provided details of places to eat and ferry times. We ate at the ardgour inn one night which was very quaint, definitely worth a visit. We can not wait to go back! One of the most beautiful places in Scotland!"

"As part of a family group booking we have enjoyed a perfect week. Everything about the accommodation, the people we met on the estate & the surrounding area attractions could not be improved. Definitely a place I will return to & I don’t usually like to make return visits. Relaxing, peaceful, perfect ! Thank you."

an ideal retreat ...

"Beautiful scenery and plenty of wildlife, an ideal retreat but close enough to civilisation for essentials. Very comfortable and warm accommodation."

The location was perfect ...

"The location was perfect for us as we like somewhere quiet. The enclosed garden was good for our 2 year old granddaughter and we were able to use our barbecue. The beds were comfortable and it was good to have a bathroom for each room as we were a mixed party. The milk and bottle of wine etc was a nice touch and much appreciated."
