Granary Cottage is situated on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, seven miles west of Scarborough and the East Coast, and convenient for Whitby, Filey, Bridlington, Pickering, and York.
This lovely self-catering cottage is a beautifully renovated 18th Century barn nestled in a superb position overlooking the stunning Troutsdale countryside. The cottage has three bedrooms: one super-king (downstairs), one king (upstairs) and one twin (upstairs), each with en-suite bathrooms, sleeping six guests in comfortable luxury.
Layout:
Ground floor: stone floored entrance hall with beamed ceiling and feature oak staircase leading to gallery landing.
From the entrance hall, down a couple of steps and to the left, there are doors leading to a beautiful, expansive drawing room with sofas, writing desk & chair, a piano, and a feature Chesney stone fireplace housing an electric fire. There are windows on two sides giving spectacular views over the surrounding countryside, and French windows opening to the outside patio area.
To the right of those steps, there is a cloakroom, with a wash hand basin and W.C.
Turn left from entrance hall, up a couple of steps and into the dining kitchen, which has been custom built with Stirling & Jones oak units, granite work surfaces and oak strip flooring. Kitchen equipment includes fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing, cooking, and serving meals for six guests.
The double doors from the dining kitchen open to a TV Lounge with a sofa and armchairs, coffee tables and a feature stone fireplace with electric fire.
From the TV lounge, up a step and into the large master bedroom with a super-king bed, bedside cabinets, walk-in wardrobe, sofa, dressing table and stool. The en-suite bathroom comprises a bath, shower, wash hand basin, W.C., heated towel rail and illuminated mirrored cabinet.
First floor - upstairs from entrance hall is a double bedroom with a king-size bed, bedside cabinets, wardrobe, chest of drawers. The en-suite bathroom comprises bath and shower over bath, W.C., and heated towel rail.
There is also a twin bedroom on this floor, with two single beds, wardrobe, bedside cabinets, chest of drawers and chair. The en-suite bathroom has bath and shower over bath, wash hand basin, W.C., heated towel rail and illuminated mirrored cabinet.
There is underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, and radiators on the upper floor.
The garden is not enclosed or fenced, and there is a patio area with garden furniture. Parking is available right next to the cottage.
Granary Cottage is located on a busy working farm, so dogs must be kept under control at all times. There is plenty of parking and outside space and garden (not enclosed) with garden furniture for those long summer evenings.
Pheasant shoots also take place from October to January, so the farmyard is busy when the guns meet in the morning, and again at lunchtime.
Heating and electricity included in your rental. We provide all bedding, bed linen and towels, TV, and WiFi (subject to fair usage policy).
Dogs are welcome at an added fee of £20 per dog.
Please note: Gardens/Outside areas not necessarily dog proof, even if fenced/walled, so dogs must be kept under control at all times, especially near farm animals.
It was breathtaking. A fabulous cottage - spacious, luxurious, well equipped and in a beautiful and peaceful area with amazing views from the garden . Excellent Wifi. Prompt attention from the agency when we reported that the dishwasher wasn't working.
This is being picky as the property was wonderful but would benefit from a few more teaspoons (only 5), summer duvets and instructions for the appliances. Also we found the upstairs showers rather too hot. If anything could be done about the flies in the kitchen it would really help as they are a complete nuisance.

The location is excellent for exploring the whole area and then returning to beautiful peace and quiet. The accommodation itself is spacious enabling a family of 5 plenty of room to stretch out and not on top of each other! The views from the cottage are delightful and a very welcome sight each morning.
Having stayed for 3 consecutive years we have noted some areas where paint might need to be renewed but that is not unexpected in a busy property.

Everything, but in particular the space and views from the accommodation was incredible.
The heating was off in the upstairs bedrooms but the radiators still made a bubbling noise at times - possibly when the hot water came on?

Country Cottage Holiday staff provided us with an excellent and extremely professional service. Issues we had i.e. with microwave & spare key were dealt with promptly & to our full satisfaction. All queries and calls made to Country Cottage Holiday during our stay were answered immediately and in a very helpful manner.
We were disappointed with accommodation as there were various areas of damage for example, torn carpet in TV longe, bath badly chipped and floor tiles badly cracked in the bathroom of the upstairs double bedroom, curtain rings & curtain rail end cap missing in the same bedroom (leaving curtain hanging). The sealant and grouting in the bathrooms was grubby. The furnishings
were mostly worn and tired as was the decor. Some of the crockery was very dirty in the kitchen cupboards. These issues were not reflected on your website & we were not advised of them when booking.
Also we were plagued by flys particularly in the upstairs bedrooms. This was a very unpleasant experience especially at night when we were trying to sleep. I spent much of my time using fly spray & hoovering then up.

The house is in a great location. Nice and quiet but close drive to the beach. A very spacious house but still cosy and comfortable with modern amenities. This was our second stay and we have booked again for next year.
The oven is a little complicated but everything else is just great.

Spacious with wonderful views from patio area.
Description not informatve about being in a farmyard.
3rd bedroom very smelly and this permeates furnishings and upper floor
No baking or oven tray. Had to purchase during stay

Cancellation: The Holidaymaker is liable for the total hire charge unless written notice of the intention to cancel the booking is received at least eight weeks prior to the commencement of the holiday. The deposit paid to confirm the booking, and other monies paid, will only be refunded if the Owner is able to re-let the holiday cottage for the period of the holiday let. In the event of re-letting, the Owner will retain the sum of 100GBP to cover administrative costs and (subject to deduction of that sum) refund to the Holidaymaker the balance of monies received from the Holidaymaker, or the sum received from re-letting whichever sum shall be the lower. Every effort will be made to re-let a cancelled booking, but the Holidaymaker is advised to take out holiday insurance to cover that eventuality.
