Beautiful cottage. Black Isle fantastic place to stay , even in winter. The place was cosy & warm & very clean with every thing we needed. |

Though the spiral stairs looked great they were quite difficult for me with a bad knee. I think people with any poor mobility need To be made aware as lounge upstairs |

This was our sixth stay at the boathouse and it was as tranquil as ever. |
|
The boathouse was not to the usual standard of cleanliness. It was very dusty from nests of tables to thick dust on the bed headboards. Our duvet cover had all the buttons missing bar two. These issues did not affect our holiday but there doesn’t seem to be the same attention to detail as before. We love the remote location and are used to it but one idea which would be very beneficial would be the installation of reflective posts to the entrance of the estate. When returning from Avoch at night, the entrance is impossible to see on the country road until you are upon it. We drove past it twice when there was cars coming towards us and behind us, we just couldn’t see the entrance, and we are not old! |

Unique location. Peaceful and relaxing. Plenty privacy if required. Close to the villages of Avoch, Fortrose and Rosemarkie for shops pubs and restaurants |

On our first glimpse of the Boathouse, reflecting in the small lochan - we'd knew we'd made the right choice, Beautiful accommodation in one of the best holiday cottages we've stayed in. The Heron and deer visited regularly and we even had a visit from a fox. would highly recommend this place ...already missing siting on that beautiful balcony. |

we had a problem with wasps, but that was dealt with quickly.The power tripped a few times, not sure why, but we just reset it and it was fine. no issued otherwise |

Considering the type of accommodation and the fact that the house is alive with bats, bees, and martins etc the accommodation is surprisingly clean and bug free internally. It is a pity that the first impression internally is a bit dark and dismal, especially upstairs, but that is probably a feature of the house design.
The controllable heating system is a great improvement on the typical storage heaters in the highlands and is essential with the massive variablity of summer weather.
Furnishings and bedding are very good and comfortable. |

The main issue is privacy and the fact that walkers insist on walking up to the house and around the pond. More visible signage might help.
It might be useful if there was a tv downstairs, possibly in the kitchen, as upstairs you have to choose between the external view or the tv but can't watch both.
Also the satellite dish is surounded by tree branches and cutting back a bit might improve the signal.
It would be nice to have slightly more accessibilty to the grounds for guests and a decent map, but I guess this might cause more problems given the open public access. |

This is our 6th time and as usual it was just relaxing and enjoyable within a beautiful house and an abundance of wild life. |
|
Unfortunately on this occasion we felt a little like we were on display. Firstly a vehicle with ‘Happy Holidays’ blazoned all over the vehicle. They stopped and took photos. On another occasion a party lead by an individual in black cape and bonnet lead a party of five right up to the house. They to took photos. There were a couple of other parties that did the same. The ‘private’ sign is obviously misunderstood I think. |

This was our second visit to the Boathouse. We loved it even more, appreciating maintenance work done on the decking. The new black wood looks superb. The downstairs bathroom looks lovely with its new grey paint and the shower worked far better than last year.We brought our son and his wife for the week. As residents of central London, they loved the air, the landscape, the wildlife and the peace: a complete contrast to normal life. We all had such a fantastic time that I've already booked another week next year. Thank you. |

There is quite a big,constant drip coming from the roof guttering on the corner outside the downstairs bedroom.
The kitchen could do with a slotted spoon, to lift poached eggs from a pan of boiling water.
