HAPPY SUMMER HOLIDAYS!

Colin’s Blog from Bay Farm Cottages, Scotland

It is always nice to eat local produce on holiday and there is plenty to buy on the Black Isle. These are some of the shops within easy reach of Rosehaugh, which we use ourselves. You can buy good local hens' and ducks' eggs in the Post Office in Avoch. Munro the Butcher in Fortrose has good locally produced meat and vegetables. They also stock Struan Heather Honey, which is delicious. The Cromarty Bakery, which produces tasty locally made bread and cakes, has a shop in Fortrose and Cromarty. The Cheese House in Cromarty (www.cromartycheese.com) is well worth a visit. They really know how to present delicious cheeses and also stock other good things to eat. Try the Sutor Creek Café while you are in Cromarty and enjoy locally caught crab and langoustines. Black Isle Berries at Ryefield Farm near Tore Roundabout sell home grown seasonal fruit and vegetables. Further afield in Beauly, there are several nice shops including a really good licensed delicatessen called Corner on the Square, which sells exceptional food and serves a good cup of coffee. Campbell & Co of Beauly are renowned Ladies and Gentlemens' Tailors and Outfitters specialising in Sporting Tweeds and Highland Dress.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Rosehaugh and come back again in Highland Dress!
