Christmas break?

Christmas Day is exactly 7 weeks today - I know I know!  Turkeys will be cooking, there will be wrapping paper and mince pie crumbs everywhere, and general merriment will ensue.  There is always lots going on during the Christmas holidays too.  Here in Scarborough, Boxing Day is great fun and starts with The Fishermen & Firemen's Boxing Day football match around 10:30 on the beach - this is Scarborough's oldest surviving custom. The annual fancy-dress raft race starts around 12:30 - absolutely hilarious watching people 'race' on their home-made rafts - all for charity so well worth it!  The atmosphere in town is buzzing all through the Christmas period of course with Christmas Markets and Santa's Grotto.  Our Bay Farm cottages in Scotland, or Thwaite Cottages near Barnard Castle, are the answer if you want beautiful countryside, views and peace and quiet.  At Bay Farm, you won't be too far from Inverness if you want to jolly it up a a little too ;) and at Thwaite Cottages you are not too far from Durham for a nice evening out.  So, if you are thinking of going away for Christmas, who you gonna call? :)
