The Smithy is an old blacksmith's workshop which has been lovingly refurbished into a cosy two-bedroom traditional stone cottage. It is across a narrow country road from our Manor House Farm and Cottage, in the heart of the picturesque North York Moors National Park. Surrounded by the beautiful scenery of Troutsdale and located between the seaside town of Scarborough and the village of Snainton, it is ideally situated for peace and tranquillity as well as for lots to see and do in nearby towns and villages. Practically no light pollution means amazing dark skies for all you stargazers too!
Beautifully furnished, this cosy self-catering cottage has one double bedroom, and one single bedroom, sleeping three guests.
Layout:
The Smithy accommodation is entirely on the ground floor, making it accessible for those with limited mobility.
There is a comfortable living room, with French windows opening onto the large patio and surrounding countryside. The fully fitted dining kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, and washer/dryer, and is well-equipped for preparation, cooking and serving meals for three guests.
The master bedroom has a king-size bed, bedside cabinets, wardrobe, and chair.
The single bedroom contains a single bed, bedside cabinet, and chest of drawers.
The family bathroom comprises a shower, wash hand basin, W.C., and heated towel rail.
All rooms have amazing views.
There is also a large outdoor patio/paved seating area with garden furniture, and wonderful views over the countryside.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Heating and electricity included in your rental. We provide all bedding, bed linen and towels, TV, and WiFi (subject to fair usage policy).
Please note: Gardens/Outside areas not necessarily dog proof, even if fenced/walled, so dogs need to be kept under control at all times, especially near farm animals.
Evidence of longstanding slight water leak from the back of the shower into the back of the adjacent cupboard in the hallway.

We have stayed here before and enjoyed the peace and quiet and the beautiful scenery.
On our first stay the property was immaculately clean and fresh but unfortunately that cannot be said this time. Huge cobwebs everywhere, dust and dead insects on every window sill, dirty floors and a a major leak coming from the shower that went through the fuse box cupboard into the hallway after every use. No hoover just a tiny dustpan. We will not be returning here again.

Love this place, the perfect get away from it all. Beautiful surroundings & a great location for exploring the coast & N Yorks moors.
Comfortable cottage off the beaten track, well furnished & equipped to a high standard.
Our only disappointment was that the heating had not been turned on, so very cold when we arrived (February) and the cottage took a good 36hrs to warm through.
(The thermostat had been turned up, but the heating had been switched off at the fuse box!) oh & one other thing - the toilet hadn’t been flushed.

Christine was extremely helpful and very quick to respond to our questions.
Cottage was cosy and very clean. Excellent cooking utensils (no Yorkshire Pudding tray though :(. ) Joking aside ,fantastic peaceful place to stay, we will go back.

We were happy to have part of our Canadian family staying nearby.The smithy provided the perfect location for a family celebration.Everything was outstanding and we will definitely use again.Thankyou for everthimg.

Cancellation: The Holidaymaker is liable for the total hire charge unless written notice of the intention to cancel the booking is received at least eight weeks prior to the commencement of the holiday. The deposit paid to confirm the booking, and other monies paid, will only be refunded if the Owner is able to re-let the holiday cottage for the period of the holiday let. In the event of re-letting, the Owner will retain the sum of 100GBP to cover administrative costs and (subject to deduction of that sum) refund to the Holidaymaker the balance of monies received from the Holidaymaker, or the sum received from re-letting whichever sum shall be the lower. Every effort will be made to re-let a cancelled booking, but the Holidaymaker is advised to take out holiday insurance to cover that eventuality.
